After only two substitute air shifts at KRNW-FM (Boulder) in the fall of 1971, I was hired full-time as the morning-drive DJ (M-F, 6-10 a.m.). Here’s the playlist from my first show on Monday, October 4, 1971. It was the freeform era when the disc jockeys picked their own music. My radio career was off to the races!

After reading your book, I was going to somehow find your email and ask you for a list of your favorite songs. Most of the rock icons you discussed in your book I had never heard of and was thinking, I will NEVER be able to listen to all of your suggestions. I had to highlight them to go back and listen. This playlist is awesome. Please keep them up. Even if it is only for me! I love hearing some of these deep tracks. You mentioned an 11 minute Neil Young tune in the book I haven’t been able to find. I may have to buy you lunch if you’re ever in Atlanta so I can get some tips on running a venue. I feel the calling! Thanks for the great book. Bummer that Chuck Berry was such a douche/swindler. Anyway. You have a fan in Atlanta!
